In a safe and confidential place, I will listen with empathy and compassion to your life story and difficulties you are experiencing on your journey. Psychosynthesis counselling offers a way of connecting to your creative and unique self. As we all have learned to adapt to our environment, it takes courage to become aware of outdated patterns that don’t serve us anymore.  I work on the premise that we all have the capacity to heal our past to live our lives better. I will be with you in exploring how your feelings are impacted and help you to make different choices how you want to be in the world.

I practice from my home in North London. Contact me for an initial confidential consultation to explore what you want to work on and how we could work together. I offer negotiable rates for people on low income.

A space to explore your needs.  Let’s find ways to live happier more productive lives.  In Counselling we can make sense of our feelings, behaviours and daily challenges, so we can overcome them with confidence and understanding.  I am here to support you through this process.  Together we can create a safe space to explore your needs in a way that feels right for you.

Symptoms can appear to be isolated problems in their own right and so we often overlook their root causes.  Working to understand how your experiences inform your behaviour makes the symptoms more identifiable and in time, manageable.

You may be suffering with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, phobias, discontentment, patterns in your life that are holding you back; relationship difficulties, separation, divorce, family issues, children leaving home, death of parents, abuse, bereavement, trauma (ancestral, historical or recent), self-esteem (confidence and love for yourself), feeling sad, loss of identity, not knowing who you are, feeling lost for example.  These are all normal issues that we all face and are often not talked about and included as part of life.

Addressing symptoms and their causes helps create a more well-rounded version of ourselves.  By choosing therapy, you are making a gentle commitment to yourself to do this in a confidential, non-judgemental safe space.  I am here to listen.

I work with individual adults of all ages.  I offer a free initial telephone conversation which gives you the chance to ask me questions and for me to get a sense of what you might need.  There is no obligation, just a time for you.  The priority is for you to work with someone you can trust.

Therapy is an important healthy part of our lives, our inner world is just as important as our outer world – it is part of our health and who we are.

Claire is a UKCP registered therapist, having trained at the Institute of Psychosynthesis, qualifying as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in 2005 and has over 15 years of experience.  She worked for 3 years as a Case Manager for a national provider of psychological services.  She uses an integrative approach with Psychosynthesis as her core model.  Claire draws from different methods and techniques to inform her practice, including attachment theory, Transactional Analysis, and Gestalt and uses CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) where appropriate.  Her work values the relationship between therapist and client as integral to supporting the client’s therapy.

In short term work (usually 6-12 sessions) the work can often largely be focused on your particular issues and what you want to achieve.   Over the longer period working through difficulty has the potential to facilitate change through the development of a deeper sense of self.

I offer low-cost counselling and psychotherapeutic counselling on-line and in person in East Sussex and currently have vacancies for clients.

I have been a full time doctor and medical scientist for much of my life and I first came to counselling and psychotherapy more than 20 years ago during a mid-life crisis. About 5 years ago I decided to train as a therapist myself and I qualified as a counsellor during the summer of 2019. I am now extending my practice and my training with the intention of qualifying as a psychotherapist.

We all struggle with life’s ups and downs at one time or another and sometimes we can get stuck in old patterns of thoughts, feelings or behaviours. Counselling and psychotherapy offer opportunities to talk about life’s frustrations and to explore deep emotional issues with the aim of resolving them or decreasing their power and providing more choice for the future.

My approach acknowledges that suffering can be caused by a loss of contact with who we really are and much our work together will be aimed at restoring, renewing and strengthening this contact with your true Self and supporting you in living your life from this deep place of inner peace and love.

Dolma-Beresford-1.jpg
Carleton Road, London N7 0ES, UK

My name is Dolma Beresford and I offer psychotherapy and counselling in North London. I hold certificates in counselling, psychotherapeutic counselling and have a master’s degree in psychosynthesis psychology. I am both UKCP and BACP registered and accredited.

If you’re searching for a therapist then it’s likely you are experiencing some kind of distress, discomfort or dissatisfaction. This could be for many different reasons, i.e. relationships, family matters, bereavement, loss, ill health, work worries. Equally, you may have no idea of a cause but just a feeling of emptiness or lack of purpose. Therapy is not only helpful for big traumatic life events. It can also help for times when you are at a crossroads or are feeling “stuck”.

Everyone goes through challenging situations, and while you may have successfully navigated other difficult periods in your life, sometimes you need a little extra support. Through therapy, you are given a safe and confidential place to talk over your difficulties with someone who is trained to help you and committed to supporting you.

Please feel free to contact me and we can have an initial conversation about whether therapy may be appropriate for you. This initial conversation can be face to face or via email or telephone. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable and makes that initial step feel less daunting.

Whatever you bring, a gentle exploration of the issues usually reveals a deeper picture that helps you to make sense of what is happening.

I really look forward to hearing from you.

My name is Elaine Lim. I am a Psychosynthesis Counsellor working towards a full psychotherapy qualification.

I operate from my home in Angel, Islington, North London. While I normally work face to face, I am also able to offer sessions over Zoom due to the current lockdown situation.

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression or loneliness? Or do you perhaps suffer from low self-esteem, and struggle to find purpose in life? Are your relationships fulfilling for you, or do you struggle to have meaningful and satisfying connections with others?

My intention is that I provide a safe, non-judgmental listening ear to those in need. To this end, I am able to call upon my training and studies in both Eastern (yoga, meditation, tantra) as well as Western (astrology, tarot, plant medicines) spirituality and mysticism.

Together, we will work towards strengthening your connection to your innermost being, giving you tools to be able to access your own inner guidance and wisdom, such that over time you are gradually able to come into a more grounded and centred space within your being. I would also like to work with you on opening your heart to all the joy, beauty and abundance that is your birthright. My ultimate aim is that you should be able to step into being a conscious co-creator of your own reality and connect to your soul’s infinite creative potential, thereby empowering you to achieve your heart’s deepest desires in this life.

I aim to become a Psychotherapist with the Institute and I offer a low cost service while I am in training. My clients resumed in person sessions after Lockdown 1 in June 2020 as I operate high standards of hygiene and social distancing according to government guidelines.

Do you find yourself struggling to get through the day as a result of troubling situations or overwhelming experiences and issues? I offer a safe, sympathetic and confidential space for us to work towards relief from emotional pain and distress. I help you find new meaning in life.

I work with people who feel lost and who long to reconnect with themselves and others. Mostly their Will has been dampened by a difficult history of upbringing in their family and early social care environment. The consequences range from mild to severe disruption in development, unique to each person. Some develop addiction to substances, work, exercise, self-harm, gambling or retail, all of which damage self-esteem and erode confidence and belief in oneself. These create challenges in relating to others and to drawing on others as resources and to enjoying mutually supportive relationships. However, patterns of belief and behaviour can be reshaped and shifts to healthier ways of being are possible.

I have an MA in Psychosynthesis Psychology and the subject of my thesis established my special area of focus: finding transformation through trauma.

Whatever has brought you here….relationship problems, work stress, anxiety, depression, fear, family issues….together we will create a safe space to explore your experience and process your feelings. After all life is often challenging and lonely, the fact you are here looking for support is the biggest and most courageous first step to healing.

I am a Psychosynthesis counsellor, offering short- and long-term work, online or in person at my home in Suffolk.  I made the commitment to my own personal journey of healing and growth mid-life after a career in Marketing.  I chose to study and practice Psychosynthesis as I value the central perspective that we ALL have the potential for healing and change.  It’s in realising that potential we can connect to our life’s purpose giving us meaning and a sense of value.

I hope that what you have read here encourages you to take the next step to get in touch so we can arrange a time for an initial consultation.  The initial session gives us space to discover what brings you to therapy, to start to get to know each other and to determine if you would like to work with me, we will then take it from there.

Whatever you choose take care of yourself.

MBACP Accredited

I offer individual and bespoke talking therapy through change, crisis, loss, bereavement, relationship and career challenges from a psychospiritual and holistic health perspective.

I am an established Counsellor, accredited with both BACP and NCS, with a background in mentoring and coaching, and I work with clients who really want to uncover meaning from the therapy process and greater understanding about their life that they can take forwards in possibly new directions.

My main interests lie in disordered eating and addictive behaviours, recovery from narcissistic romantic relationships, conflict in families, bullying at work and the debilitating effects of feeling stuck, lost or unable to access choice in your life.

I realise it takes courage to contact a counsellor and I therefore want to offer you the assurance that I take what I do very seriously and abide by the strictest code of ethics.

I find that my clients experience greater self realisation and positive change by working with me over a concentrated period of time but I do offer one off sessions for people to find out more and see if counselling will work for them.

I practice from home a mile outside St Albans in the village of Sandridge.  There is usually plenty of  free parking outside on the road.  I also offer remote counselling by Zoom and phone, and walking counselling in the many beautiful local woods and commons, weather permitting.

“what lies behind & what lies before are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”

I am an experienced practioner and have been in private practice as a Psychosynthesis counsellor and UKCP (United Kingdom Council Of Psychotherapy) registered  Psychosynthesis psychotherapist for over 15 years.

The role of therapy and what in can offer you is varied and wide but generally I support people to understand, make sense of and move forward in their lives. Whether that involves overcoming addictions, dealing with childhood trauma, making their way through loss, finding meaningful love or attending to a feeling that life is painful, stuck, stagnant or blocked.

In addition to Psychotherapy I have an interest in the Body Mind and have trained as a Lifespan Integration Practioner.  This neurological approach / tool allows me to include the nervous system in my work.  Working with our most essential emotional regulation mechanisms to support safety, connection, balance, manageability and expansion so that each of us can become most fully who we are called to be.

People can come for as few as 6 sessions or stay for as long as it feels they need to make the changes they need. My practice is in North Manchester, 2 miles north of the city centre, easily accessible by car or public transport. I see people both in person and via Video platforms such as Zoom.

You’re warmly welcome to make contact to discuss the possibility of us working together.

I offer psychotherapy in South East London, near Crystal Palace. I use a range of approaches, in a confidential and non-judgemental space, to help you improve your wellbeing and overcome symptoms and issues you might be facing. My aim is that together we can help you improve your wellbeing which can include

• Having a confidential safer space to share your deepest concerns
• Feeling deeply listened to and supported
• Better understanding of the symptoms you experience and why they may have developed
• Developing skills and tools to manage difficult feelings, thoughts and body sensations
• More able to live in the here and now rather than through the legacy of your past experiences
• Knowing, understanding and managing different aspects of your personality
• Knowing and developing a stronger sense of who you feel you really are
• Clearer purpose and direction in life
• More confidence and self-esteem
• Better able to be in relationship with yourself and others around you
• Being more resilient and able to cope with life’s difficulties and their effects on you

Issues you might bring

You are probably looking for help because you are experiencing issues you are finding difficult to manage on your own. These issues and difficulties might include:

• feelings of anxiety or depression
• stress at work and burnout
• lack of confidence and self esteem
• feelings of loneliness and isolation
• difficulties in relationships
• living with the legacy of traumatic experiences
• stressful family life
• separation or divorce
• anger
• a sense of being out of control or panic
• lack of motivation and deeper meaning in life and a sense of something missing
• feelings of surviving rather than thriving.
• difficulty in making choices or in achieving certain goals, such as career changes.

I use a range of approaches. My original training was in psychosynthesis psychotherapy. I have since added knowledge and skills in attachment theory, sensorimotor, EMDR and trauma-informed therapy.

My approach

To support you achieve better wellbeing I use a range of approaches. My original training from 2006 was in psychosynthesis psychotherapy. Psychosynthesis therapy is a broad based approach that works to understand the issues and problems that you are currently facing by looking at aspects of your past. It looks at the patterns you have developed and seeks to uncover hidden or underdeveloped parts of yourself so that you can realise your future potential and find purpose and meaning.

I have since added knowledge and skills in attachment theory, sensorimotor and trauma-informed therapy. But the most important aspect of our work together will be whether you feel I am someone you would like to work with and are able, over time, so share your deepest concerns with. Research has shown that the most important factor across multiple different therapy approaches is the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client.  A Clinical Psychology Review article in 2013 said “the therapeutic alliance (relationship between therapist and client) plays an extremely important role in the change process”.

So the most important decision you will need to make in choosing a therapist to work with is whether I am somebody you would like to work with. The initial assessment is an important way of helping you know this.

Approach and Duration
The number of sessions will depend on the issues or problems you are bringing, and whether they are specific or general in nature, and is always dictated by your needs and choices.

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and get to know each other. I will ask you general questions about yourself, your background and your reasons for seeking counseling. You will have the opportunity to ask me questions about my background and experience, the counseling approach I use and anything else you may wish to know.

Each session lasts an hour and we would review the work regularly.

For more information about how I work please see my website http://www.beyondclouds.co.uk

As far back as I can remember I have always been fascinated by people; ideas about people; and the meanings we make of our world.

I worked in education for many years before embarking on my psychotherapy training and my hunger to know more and deepen my practice has never left me.  I have subsequently become a supervisor, coach and latterly Sensorimotor psychotherapist working with trauma and the body.

I work holistically, with the whole person, and the whole of life. With our separateness and connectedness to others; with hopes , dreams and human suffering. My approach blends the wisdom of ancient and modern teachings with the most contemporary theory and practice in depth psychology and neuroscience.

I help individuals, couples and groups to understand themselves more deeply, communicate more effectively, cultivate inner power and freedom, and come closer to realising their potential, whatever that may be.

As confidante and guide I walk alongside my clients in whatever capacity they need oftentimes on a ‘road less travelled’.

Near Southwold

As far back as I can remember I have always been fascinated by people; ideas about people; and the meanings we make of our world, and after many years in education I turned to the training offered at the Institute.  There was the beginning of a very important journey.

Life throws up many challenges, especially in our health and our relationships, and whether we are alone or sharing our life with another, we can sometimes experience fear…doubt; the deepest love….the darkest hatred. We can feel lost…and belong; find joy for life but also experience addiction, depression and paralysing anxiety. There are times when we grow and thrive but other times when we can feel destroyed by life, by what happens to us, and around us.

As we move from one stage of life to another our relationship to ourselves, others, and the world calls us to heal from past traumas, mature internally and externally, and address the ‘crazy’ places we can inhabit as human beings. Psychotherapy is for those who want to do more than just ‘survive’.

I work  holistically, with the whole person, and the whole of life.  With our sense of separateness and connection to others; with hopes dreams and our suffering. My approach blends the wisdom of ancient teachings with the most contemporary theory in depth psychological and neuroscience.

As confidante and guide I walk alongside my clients in whatever capacity they need on a ‘road less travelled’.

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. Psychosynthesis has been described as ‘a psychology with a soul’, it recognises that each of us is on a journey through life that is both purposeful and meaningful, even though at times it can be difficult and painful. I am here to offer a sanctuary – some time for yourself in which to explore in depth what it is really like to be you.

I believe taking time out of our lives to step back and take stock is really important. I have been trained to help you explore your experience and will support and guide you to find new perspectives and direction.

I have practice rooms in both St Albans and Hendon, if you feel I can be of assistance to you please do not hesitate to call or email for a relaxed discussion about what you are seeking.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a specific type of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy developed in the late 1980s by psychologist Marsha M. Linehan to help better treat borderline personality disorder. Since its development, it has also been used for the treatment of other kinds of mental health disorders.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a cognitive behavioral treatment developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD, ABPP. It emphasizes individual psychotherapy and group skills training classes to help people learn and use new skills and strategies to develop a life that they experience as worth living. DBT skills include skills for mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Why does DBT teach skills?

Problematic behaviours evolve as a way to cope with a situation or attempt to solve a problem. While these behaviours might provide temporary relief or a short-term solution, they often are not effective in the long-term. DBT assumes that clients are doing they best they can, AND they need to learn new behaviours in all relevant contexts. DBT helps enhance a client’s capabilities by teaching behavioural skills in areas like mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills help people develop effective ways to navigate situations that arise in everyday life or manage specific challenges.

I have been in practise for 20 years and have practising privileges at several Priory Hospitals in the South East. I am a fully accredited UKCP Psychotherapist and have been awarded an MA in Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, DBT. I studied CBT at Surrey University and my MA was awarded by Middlesex University. I am a UKCP Approved Supervisor and have been awarded a PG Diploma in Integrative Clinical Supervision by Middlesex University.

Clinic Information is available here: https://dbtlondon.com

We teach the dialectic behavioural therapy skills: Emotional regulation, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Distress Tolerance skills. We are DBT psychologists and DBT Psychotherapists.
What is DBT? Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking treatment. It’s based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), but has been adapted to help people who experience emotions very intensely. Please call us for an informal chat if you are considering DBT treatment.
What is the difference between DBT and CBT? CBT focuses on helping you to change unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving (see Mind’s booklet Making sense of cognitive behaviour therapy for more information). DBT also helps you to change unhelpful behaviours. Our DBT group program is now available in Hendon North London, it is a 29 week program.
Internationally recognised criteria are used to diagnose BPD.

Do you have an intense fear of being left alone, which causes you to act in ways that, on reflection, seem out of the ordinary or extreme, such as constantly phoning somebody (but not including self-harming or suicidal behaviour)?
Do you have a pattern of intense and unstable relationships with other people that switch between thinking you love that person and they’re wonderful to hating that person and thinking they’re terrible?
Do you ever feel you don’t have a strong sense of your own self and are unclear about your self-image?
Do you engage in impulsive activities in two areas that are potentially damaging, such as unsafe sex, drug abuse or reckless spending (but not including self-harming or suicidal behaviour)?
Have you made repeated suicide threats or attempts in your past and engaged in self-harming?
Do you have severe mood swings, such as feeling intensely depressed, anxious or irritable, which last from a few hours to a few days?
Do you have long-term feelings of emptiness and loneliness?
Do you have sudden and intense feelings of anger and aggression, and often find it difficult to control your anger?
When you find yourself in stressful situations, do you have feelings of paranoia, or do you feel like you’re disconnected from the world or from your own body, thoughts and behaviour?

Each of my clients brings their own personal journey with their own unique set of challenges and potential. I work with helping my clients to not just manage the difficulties they face, but to help them release the energy that is locked in old patterns and habits, originating in their history, in order to transform their lives and realise their potential.

I am originally from New Zealand and lived in London for 17 years before moving with my young family to Stroud. My practice is in Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol.

I am a group facilitator and trainer at the Institute of Psychosynthesis in London.

Locations: Cambridgeshire and High Barnet London. I am currently seeing clients via Zoom.

At times we may experience difficulties where we feel stuck or overwhelmed, or periods of unhappiness or anxiousness that doesn’t allow us to feel we are freely making decisions and acting to our true selves. I can support you to find meaning and purpose in your life and learn to have a healthy relationship with yourself and others, and identify your true potential.

I am a qualified accredited psychosynthesis psychotherapist (UKCP Registered) experienced in individual and group therapy. I have worked as a therapist at Priory Roehampton and Priory North London and more recently as a part of the therapeutic team setting up Priory’s new residential clinic in Mill Hill London.

I have experience of working with a wide range of concerns, including: childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and addictive behaviours.

My approach encourages personal growth by promoting change within the individual and bringing together different dimensions of the whole: the behavioural, cognitional, emotional, volitional and spiritual.

I offer a therapy of hope with an eye not only on history, but also on a purposeful future.

I recognise that we all have a True Self and that there are times in life when it can be particularly challenging to express this higher potential. Conflict between our emerging Self and learnt adaptations of the past can cause struggle and suffering. The context for all my work is to support you to live a creative life aligned to discovering and actualising your unique purpose, meaning and values.

I work with clients experiencing the inevitable human suffering caused by bereavement, illness, relationship issues, work related challenges and a whole array of life changes; and with clients who choose to engage with existential issues. My relationship with clients is authentic, collaborative and holistic. I encourage you to be truly you.

My work is informed by my extensive training in Psychosynthesis psychology, psychotherapy, counselling and executive coaching.

I practice from Milnthorpe and Ulverston in Cumbria. Coaching is also available online and I work as an executive coach UK wide.

The threat of Coronavirus (COVID 19) brings with it feelings of tremendous fear and anxiety in the face of uncertainty. This is only made worse by the idea of extended self-isolation.

It is natural to feel fearful in the unknown present and to feel anxious, stressed and helpless. But know that even if you find yourself physically isolated, support is and can be available to you.

I believe that now more than ever, one to one counselling needs to be as accessible for anyone who needs it, which is why I also offer a few low-cost places in my private practice.

Sessions can be for weeks, months or even longer – whatever you need. So please feel free to contact me if you are struggling and are wondering if counselling might help you get through this challenging and frightening time.

Connection is key to both emotional and physical healing. We can work together to support your mental health and emotional well-being as you also prioritise your physical health. All from the safety and comfort of your own home.

Take care, I wish you well. Karen

I am a Psychosynthesis Psychotherapeutic Counsellor clinically accredited with UKCP, and a Registered Member of BACP.  I am passionate in using imagination, the body and nature as resources, and mirrors of the soul

I provide a warm space for you to slow down and recollect yourself, through telling your story, and learning tools how to protect and care for yourself. I can help you understand how your past, present and potential future are all implicit in the symptoms, issues or longing that has led you to seek therapy. This can give you a deeper experience of who you are, and where you really want to go in life.

I have seen clients for ten years. Some presenting issues I have worked with are: anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, relationship issues, disability, life limiting illness, childhood trauma, suicidal thoughts, self harm, concerns around sexual or substance addictions, and sexual expression and identity. Working with issues, tends to lead on to clients deeper search for purpose and direction in life. Several clients also work with me on integrating spiritual experiences from for example a retreat, into their every day life.

The sessions are a mix of talking therapy and use of imagination and the body as resources, through guided visualisation, feeling in to sensations in the body, and drawing with crayon.

My work as a therapist is also influenced by my twenty years experience working as a Specialist Palliative Care Nurse supporting people living at the threshold of end of life.

I work short, medium or long term depending on client’s need and ability, and I am experienced in working online or through telephone. Please contact me via e-mail with any enquiries and to arrange an initial conversation or session.

I offer one to one sessions for counselling and psychotherapy where I provide a safe space in which you may explore whatever is pressing for you. You may want to work on a particular issue or explore reoccurring experiences, patterns of behaviour or styles of relating. You may be suffering physically, psychologically or emotionally, and may need to express your concerns, fears and hopes. Perhaps you are searching for healing and wholeness, or are suddenly confronted with a crisis and are very anxious. Maybe you just need to talk, tell your story, and just be how you are without any need to be anything in particular for anyone. You may be curious about what it is you really value and wish to explore this.

I am fully committed to helping you resolve or dissolve your problems.
